Young students at table learning

2nd Grade - Marquette University

Course Description

At the beginning of the school year, there were several very large, old whiteboards covering a lot of the space in our classroom. They weren't usable anymore, so we painted a mural of a sunrise and the students' handprints on one of them with the reminders, "Today is a new day" and, "You are loved." You will also find that our classroom feels special in how the Eagles treat one another. You will always find the Eagles helping one another with a math problem, reading to one another, and inviting one another to play games at recess. When someone makes a mistake, we use words to express how we feel and what we need to solve the problem." The Eagles LOVE read-alouds and sitting with stuffed animal buddies. When they earn rewards, the class often likes to choose a book we've previously read to listen to again. We also have really enjoyed earning "paint parties" as a class where we get to use water colors, acrylic, or finger paint to practice sight words or create landscapes!
