St. Paul Primary Academy, Best in the Country for Student Growth

When it comes to academic growth, Prodeo St. Paul kindergarteners and 1st graders are some of the best in the country.

Throughout each school year, scholars across the Prodeo network take NWEA MAP Growth assessments to measure their academic growth toward grade-level proficiency. Kindergarten through 8th graders are tested in their math and reading skills, and 5th through 8th graders are also tested in science proficiency.

During the 2022-23 school year, Prodeo scholars at our St. Paul Primary Academy showed exceptional growth, putting the school in the 99th percentile for growth in math and reading.

When we compare the growth of our students to the growth of others nationwide, Prodeo students are learning and mastering important foundational skills faster than 99% of students in their grade levels. They're the top 1%! We are so proud of our teachers, staff members, and families for their dedication to our scholars' learning and growth. And we are so proud of our students' engagement in their learning and their incredible growth. They now have a strong foundation of literacy and math skills, setting them up for success in high school and college, and are likely to have higher earnings potential as adults.

The 5% increase from last year's results in both academic areas is fueled by data and teachers’ ability to customize lessons to students' needs. “Over the course of the year, teachers get weekly data. With that data, we can help a student to excel or help those who are struggling in real time. When teachers do that, we see these amazing results,” said principal Liz Ferguson.

Prodeo teachers are knowledgeable about the standards and developmental stages for scholars in their grades. They have a clear vision of what will come in the next grade. These two things help staff truly teach and prepare scholars and encourage academic growth.

More about the Assessment

Prodeo administers this assessment to scholars in the subject areas of math and reading in grades K through 8th, as well as science for scholars in grades 5th through 8th.

MAP Growth uses a RIT scale to accurately measure what students know, regardless of their grade level. It also measures growth over time, allowing parents and teachers to track a child’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. Once a child completes a MAP Growth test, they receive a RIT score.
